Clean the Air Filters Regularly: Clean or replace the air filters every 1-2 months to ensure smooth airflow and optimal system performance. Use a vacuum or rinse filters (if safe) to remove dust, dirt, and debris.
Clean the Indoor Unit Coils: Check the indoor unit’s evaporator coils periodically. Clean them with a soft cloth or a coil cleaner to prevent dirt buildup, ensuring efficient cooling and heating performance.
Inspect the Outdoor Condenser Coils: At least once a year, clean the outdoor unit's condenser coils to prevent dust, leaves, and debris from blocking airflow. Use a soft brush or low-pressure water to clean them carefully.
Check Refrigerant Levels: Ensure the refrigerant is at the recommended level. If the system is not cooling or heating as expected, it may indicate low refrigerant. Contact a professional for an inspection and recharge if necessary.
Clear the Condensate Drain Line: Inspect the condensate drain for clogs or blockages, as a clogged drain can cause water damage and system inefficiency. Regularly clean the drain line to ensure it flows freely.
Maintain Proper Airflow Clearance: Ensure the area around both the indoor and outdoor units is clear of obstructions. Keep at least 3 feet of clearance around the outdoor unit for optimal airflow and to prevent strain on the system.
Test Both Cooling and Heating Functions: Regularly test both the cooling and heating modes to ensure proper operation throughout the year. This helps identify potential issues early, ensuring year-round comfort.
Inspect Refrigerant Lines and Connections: Check refrigerant lines and connections for any visible leaks, cracks, or damage. If you find any issues, repair them immediately to prevent refrigerant loss and avoid system damage.
Verify Remote Control or App Settings: Ensure your remote control or app is working properly, with the correct settings for temperature and mode. This ensures optimal performance and comfort.
Schedule Annual Professional Maintenance: Arrange for a licensed technician to conduct an annual inspection of the system. A professional service ensures everything is functioning correctly, refrigerant levels are sufficient, and internal components are clean.
